I'm a D-lister and that's okay

If Heather Armstrong (aka Dooce) is Julia Roberts and Mom 101, White Trash Mom, and Motherhood Uncensored are the Kate Winslet, Gwyneth Paltrow and Angelina Jolies of the mommyblogging world, what am I?

Janeane Garafalo?

I'm no Judy-come-lately to the world of blogging. I've been at this for three years. But like my friend Sara, I haven't done much to grow my blog. I don't network. I don't Digg or kirtsy. I rarely tweet. I'm an f-ing ad creative and my blog doesn't even have a USP.

But BlogHer 2009 and all its attendant anxiety are fast approaching. Should I worry that my blog is largely unchanged since I last went in 2007? That only a handful of bloggers will recognize me? That I still have leftover business cards?

Hell no! I'm embracing my D-list status. I don't get invited on corporate junkets and that's okay. I'm pretty sure my readers would rather hear about my kids than listen to me fawn over a hot dog factory or sing the praises of Jell-O pudding snacks.

Are you a D-lister too? Look for me and Sara at BlogHer this year and we'll get you a button (real and/or virtual). We might even add you to our blogroll at the soon-to-be-launched D-ListBlogger.com.

Oh for real I love seeing you and Sara- and can I confess that when I'm around you I am in awe and feel like you ARE A-list? (if there are such letter lists!) and I had no idea what an USP was and still don't think I get it. Can't wait to see you in a few weeks!

I want that button! D-Listers unite!

I'll self-identify as a B-minus-lister and I fully expect no one to know who I am. There are simply too many blogs out there! I love your badge. Looking forward to hanging out in Chicago!

Is it sad I still haven't really figured out what exactly happens at BlogHer and what it's about? My husband was actually the one who told me about it, lol.

I happen to love Janeane Garofalo!!! And you and Sara certainly A listers in my book. Pass that button.

LOL Perfect! Not going to BlogHer but as fellow Marketing Professional with a sad-ass been around for years and yet unfollowed blog can I get a button!?!

Cause let me tell you if given the choice I'd take Kathy and Janeane over Angelina or Gwyneth any day!

maybe this new button that we all want is going to up your status to B or C level!

I love this! I am such a D-list blogger and I am so proud.

I want that button!! If D-Listers unite...you never know what might happen.

I'm with ya, and I'll be with ya at BlogHer too. Button me up, baby.

Kate Winslet my ass. None of us were class president or head cheerleader - even a queen among bloggers is still a blogger.

I'd be honored to wear a D list badge.

lol! Sign me up!

Heh. I love this idea. I don't know if I even qualify as a D-lister, though. I think I'm so far down the list they ran out of letters. e

Save a button for me!!

I know exactly what you're talking about.

I need that button.

I've actually been told I'm the "poor man's Heather Armstrong" before. Which I take as a compliment. It was followed by, "I mean, you are just as f'd up as she is and as funny." Um. thanks!

I love my blog and I would be happy to be in your d-list company.

Well, I was prom queen and valedictorian.

But I was also homeschooled so...

And honestly, I'd say you're more indy fabulous - like Parker Posey or Catherine Keener.

But that's just me.

Great tag line on the button. I fully expect to have tons of leftover business cards this year too. Darn that minimum order quantity of 20. ;)

Look forward to meeting you

Hilarious! I guess I need a Z-list button - never been to BlogHer. Or would that be N-list?

I doubt anyone at BlogHer will have a clue who I am. I would love a button like that!

Hot dog factory!!! Snort.

(I love Janeane. Can I be Eddie Izzard?)

LOVE this post. Bravo for being honest and doing your own thing.

Love the button! I've been blogging for nearly 4 years now and still wouldn't place myself much above C-list. Maybe B-minus like Whitney, except I don't even have a book to help me out.

Somehow I think those buttons will be a hot item at BlogHer. So you'll be very popular. :)

I'm so D-list it took me a whole day, and a nudge email from you to notice your post. :) D-listers unite! I'm getting that blog up and running! Let the un-promotion and anti-brand building begin.

I'm not even sure I rate a D-List button, I am such a lame blogger! But I went to BlogHer in 2007, again in 2008, and now am trying to convince my husband that I should go, even if I hardly blog and am a total nobody. BlogHer is all about the D-Listers coming together! I'll be looking for you ....

Love this. I am so D-list I am not even going to BlogHer...

Definitely need that D-List Blogger Button. I didn't even know what BlogHer was until a month ago and I have been blogging for about 8 months now! Have a great time at the conference, perhaps I can join the D-List Bloggers next year!

LOL. Sign me up. Though to @Mom101's point, I was class president. ;-)

I cannot wait to meet you at BlogHer - I am D list all the way.

I'll take one -- the growing list is D-listers sounds like a pretty fun group to hang with.

I can't get to the conference this year, but can I join? Pretty please?

I would totally recognize you...if I were going.

But when I was last in Chicago, it was you and Sara with whom I spent most of my time. Because you guys rock.

I am not even close to a D-List!!! Blogher is not on my radar, and I could guarantee no a soul would know who I am. Not that I really care though.

Oh and I would definitely rather hear about the kids :)
